The Fighting Irish were able to pick up a win on the year in the opening game. Granted, the win was not that impressive and the Irish did not cover the spread. However, it was a win and allowed Notre Dame to bring home the money line win. In the win the Blue Devils did end up scoring 13 points and the Irish only put in a total of 27 points.
Ian Book was the quarterback the Irish had start the game and he definitely made the most of it. Book went 19-31 for 263 yards and a touchdown, the downside is Book was picked off in the game. Kyren Williams ended up carrying the ball 19 times for 112 yards and 2 touchdowns. Williams was also the leading receiver as well with 2 catches for 93 yards.
