SMU Mustangs vs. Houston Cougars

NCAAF: 7:30 PM ET

Oct. 24, 2019

TV: ESPN
Latest Odds : SMU -13.5

Two teams that really are in unexpected positions at this point of the season. Who expected the SMU Mustangs to be undefeated at this point of the season? Not me I admit and also who would've thought Houston would be in the position that they are with their top player QB D'Eriq King on redshirt after a 1-3 start to the season.

Houston did have a murders row of a schedule to open up the season playing at Oklahoma a game where they covered and lossed 49-31 then a easy game against Prairie View then a game at home versus powerful Washington State and off for a road game at much improved Tulane.

Houston bounced back against North Texas as they entered that game as a 7 point dog after red shirting their star QB. Last week they took on UCONN and the final score of 24-17 does not show how close this team came to losing to maybe the worst team in division 1 football. That game they were outplayed but UCONN struggled in the redzone and ultimately lost the game.

The amazing SMU Mustangs have caught the college football world by surprise and enter this game off a home win over Temple where they dominated them and beat them up and down the field 45-21. SMU has beaten TCU,South Florida and North Texas and TCU 41-38 as a quality win on their resume. SMU has Memphis on deck so the schedule gets tougher as the season drags on also they play Navy and Tulane to finish up the conference.

Recent Betting Trends:

Mustangs are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 Thursday games.

Mustangs are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after accumulating more than 280 yards passing in their previous game.

Over is 6-0 in Mustangs last 6 games overall.

Free Betting Pick: SMU -13.5

Houston showed me alot last week and all though they have kept up with other teams since the red shirting of key QB D'Eriq King this team is not on par with the level of talent on SMU who will be playing with their heads on fire in a rare T.V game for this program. Look for SMU to win and cover this game 49-28.
