Oklahoma State Cowboys vs. Oregon State Beavers

NCAAF: 10:30 PM EST

TV: FS1
Latest Odds : OKST -15.5 Total 73.5

On Friday August 30, the Oklahoma State Cowboys visit Reser Stadium in Corvallis, Oregon to play the Oregon State Beavers in the opening game of the 2019 college football regular season for both.

The Cowboys upset Missouri in the Liberty Bowl in 2018 to avoid a losing season. The Cowboys will have a new quarterback in Dru Brown or redshirt freshman Spencer Sanders, who is a true dual-threat under center. The Cowboys have a new offensive coordinator in Sean Gleeson who helped Princeton become one of the nation’s top scoring teams in the FCS. Look for the Cowboys offense to spread the field and put up points on the board. The Cowboys defense has a strong back seven.

Oregon State begins its second season under coach Jonathan Smith the former record-setting quarterback with the Beavers. Last season the Beavers finished a paltry 2-10. Jake Luton returns as the Beavers starting quarterback. Transfer Tristan Gebbia will push Luton for the starting QB job. Jermar Jefferson returns at running back. The top target at wide receiver will be Isaiah Hodgins. Expect little change on defense. Last season the Beavers were last in points against at 45.8 per game and total defense at 536.8 yards per game.

Taylor Cornelius who threw for 3,978 yards last season is gone and either Dru Brown or Spencer Sanders will start under center for the Cowboys. Chubba Hubbard returns as the top rusher from last season when he had 740 yards and 7 touchdowns. The top returning receiver is Tylan Wallace, who caught 86 passes for 1,491 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Returning quarterback Jake Luton threw for 1,660 yards, 10 touchdowns and four interceptions in 2018. Jermar Jefferson returns for his sophomore year. Jefferson rushed for 1,380 yards and 12 touchdowns as a freshman in 2018. Isaiah Hodgins tops all returning receivers. Last season Hodgins caught 59 passes for 876 yards and five touchdowns.

Free Betting Pick: Oklahoma State Cowboys -15.5

Oklahoma State will start the season with a new quarterback and a strong set of skill position players. New offensive coordinator Sean Gleeson is expected to have the Cowboys playing an up-tempo spread offense that will take advantage of the poor Oregon State defense. The Beavers have a strong running game and capable quarterback, but were dead last in yards against and points against on defense last season and expect little change in 2019. Final Score Prediction, Oklahoma State Cowboys win and cover ATS 48-30
