Houston Cougars vs. Oklahoma Sooners
NCAAF: 7:30 PM EST
Sep. 01, 2019
The Cougars are going to have a better offense in this game than what they did last year. That could bea little bit shocking, but considering that D’Eriq King was able to wing the ball around the field before getting hurt and now comes back healthy, it will help out. Not to mention Dana Holgorsen is coming into this game with a new offensive plan that focuses more on the pass and it is easy to see the Cougars lighting up the scoreboard.
With the defense the Cougars are going to have some issues as the team was among the worst in the nation, which explains why the offense had to be so good last year. The defense is returning only 3 starters from the squad last year. However, the players that the Cougars have replacing the ones who have moved on are almost all juniors with a couple of seniors thrown in for good measure.
For the Sooners the offense has a lot to replace. They have to replace the Heisman Trophy winner, but almost all the entire offensive line as well. The line only returns the center from the team last year, but he is joined on the line by 3 other sophomores on the starting front. The Sooners do have a decent talent coming back at quarterback in Jalen Hurts from Alabama.
The defense of the Sooners can only get better. The team was ranked 114th overall last season, which was horrible and explains the losses on the season. What could really help the Sooners defense out, though, is the fact that they are returning the entire unit almost completely intact. Ronnie Perkins and Kenneth Mann will be relied on to rush the quarterback and that could really help the Sooners out quite a bit.

Free Betting Pick: Houston Cougars +24.5
The Sooners are playing at home and with the offense that needs to be completely rebuilt it could be very difficult for the team to pull off a win or at least have the same offensive prowess the Sooners exhibited last year. The bright point for the Sooners is the fact that the team has a Houston Cougars team that can easily be dismantled defensively. Final Score, Oklahoma Sooners win, but fail to cover ATS 54-35.
