Baylor Bears vs. Vanderbilt Commodores
NCAAF: 9:00 PM EST
Dec. 27, 2018
Two 6-6 teams meet up in Houston Texas at the Texas Bowl. Home field advantage of the Baylor Bears here. Matt Rhule has a much improved Baylor team as he continues to rebuild the program. Bears are the underdogs in this game I think do to their weaker schedule then Vanderbilt in my opinion.
This is the second appearance for Baylor in the Texas Bowl and first since the 2010 season. Baylor Bears are just 12-11 SU all time in bowl games. Baylor defense has been playing much better in it's last 3 games leading into this bowl match up with Vanderbilt.
Both teams come in off of must win games as Baylor beat Texas Tech and Vanderbilt knocked off Tennessee in a big rival win. Vanderbilt who played a tougher schedule really has no big statement wins all year.
Baylor comes in with the better offense and defense this year although Vandy has allowed less points but I think that has a ton to do with not being involved with shootouts which is the norm in the Big 12 conference.
Recent Betting Trends:
Bears are 9-1 ATS in their last 10 games in December.
Vanderbilt was 8-4 ATS this season.
Under is 5-0 in Commodores last 5 games following a straight up win.
A big loss and the reason I think Baylor is the underdog is they will be missing it's star player Jalen Hurd who is undergoing surgery so he is ready for the NFL draft. I think all the other Baylor players on offense step up their game. I think this game will be won at running back and Baylor's running backs JaMycal Hasty and Trestan Ebner lead the way. These guys can run the ball and catch it out of the backfield. Look for Baylor to lead this game from start to the finish as the Bears win 35-31
