The Boston Celtics visit Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Wednesday to face rival the Philadelphia 76ers in the opening game of the NBA regular season for both. The Celtics signed free agent Kemba Walker to replace the outgoing Kyrie Irving. Walker is a high-scoring point guard who will quickly make Boston fans forget about the departure of Irving.

Boston lost center Aron Baynes and Al Horford, but added Enes Kanter. In the draft, Boston added Carsen Edwards, Romeo Langford and Grant Williams but did not address the loss of big men. Yet the Celtics have returning top players such as Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Gordon Hayward who should together with Walker and Kanter give Boston the ability to battle it out with Philly and other East powers.

Philly is one of the top two favorites to win the Eastern Conference title along with the Milwaukee Bucks. The Sixers were very active during the offseason acquiring Josh Richardson from Miami and landing former Boston star Al Horford who will play alongside high scorer and rebounder Joel Embiid. Philly re-signed Tobias Harris and Ben Simmons and acquired Trey Burke, Raul Neto and Kyle O’Brien.

With Joel Embiid the 76ers have the best big man in the East, but Embiid must remain healthy if the 76ers hope to challenge the Bucks. Philly must keep Horford healthy and Harris must take his game up another notch as well. If Richardson can slot in seamlessly alongside Simmons and the rest of the 76ers, Philly will win 60 or more games. Lots of ifs exist, but more than likely the 76ers will win 60.
