Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Orlando Magic

TV: DTV
Latest Odds : ORL -8 Total 212.5

The Cleveland Cavaliers visit Amway Center in Orlando, Florida on Wednesday to face the Orlando Magic in the opening game of the NBA regular season for both. The Cavaliers are expected to be one of the NBA’s worst teams this season. The Cavaliers drafted Darius Garland to play in their backcourt alongside Collin Sexton. Kevin Porter Jr. and Dylan Windler were also drafted.

Cleveland has ended its relationship with JR Smith and Channing Frye retired, while Kevin Love, Matthew Dellavedova and Tristan Thompson are holdovers from the championship team of 2016. Injuries hurt Love last season and he must return to his All-Star form, while Garland will be looked upon to score along with Sexton, Larry Nance Jr. and Jordan Clarkson. Love could be traded at the deadline if a package agreeable to the Cavs is presented to them.

Markelle Fultz will be the catalyst for this season’s Orlando Magic. The former No. 1 overall pick will look to take the Magic back to their second straight playoff appearance. The Magic re-signed Nikola Vucevic, Michael Carter-Williams and Terrence Ross and added Al-Farouq Aminu. Fultz was a trade deadline acquisition, but never played during the regular season for the Magic, but is expected see many minutes of action each game.

Aaron Gordon and Jonathan Isaac are expected to take on more responsibility on the offensive end and Vucevic looks to have another All-Star like season of last year, after averaging 20.9 points, 12.1 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game in 2018-19. Expect Gordon and Isaac to start up front with Vucevic, while Animu and Mo Bamba could share starting roles at 4 or 5.

Much of the same roster returns this season for Orlando with the addition of Markelle Fultz. The Magic have strong frontcourt play with Vucevic, Gordon and Isaac which will give the Cavaliers’ fits in the front court. Love will be outmanned most of the season in paint for Cleveland while the Cavs backcourt will hold its own with Sexton and rookie Garland. Final Score Prediction, Orlando Magic win and cover ATS 113-102
